The “Why?”

Why did I go through the expense of paying for this site?

Yeah, that is a very good question, to be honest. My hope is to be able to provide a service to my visitors here, in the way of articles, reviews, and other content related to wargaming, whether it be via miniature, board, or computer.

Since my gaming enthusiasm has pushed me deep into the realm of imagi-nations, nearly all of my purchases of games, miniatures, and wargaming essentials are done with my own creation in mind. Even the history books that I read have become a source of information and inspiration as to where I might take my imagi-nations world.

As a past employee of a rather large miniature gaming company, former store manager for more than one gaming store, a sales-rep for a national game distributor, and a playtester for both board and computer games ( I did test for some miniature games but it was informally done), my employment history and hobbies have given me a lot of food for thought and a motivation to do as much as I can to enrich others’ gaming experiences.

It may be that some of what I do here helps YOU, dear reader, and if so, maybe it will be enough to cause you to donate a paltry amount towards offsetting the costs of this site and the resources required to maintain it. When I say “paltry” I am talking about a $1 a month, at most. If I happen to save you from making a bad purchase of a game or help you save money by another means, then it would be worth it. At least to my way of thinking.

Towards the end of providing a service, my goal is to post an article on a weekly basis but depending on my work schedule (I am often called away for training and professional development out of town) I intend to post far more than that.

The content of my posts will range from informative (hopefully) articles to thought-provoking posts regarding boardgame and miniature game design, to book and game reviews, commentary on various miniatures from several manufacturers, and original rules or recommendations for bettering a wargamer’s experience. There may (will) be a bit of painting and terrain-making, to spice things up.

Please, do not get hung up on my mention of hoped-for monetary contributions. I will continue to post as often as I can manage, even should I never receive a donation. However, the longevity of this site will depend on not only growing a larger number of visitors, but also some kind of revenue generation through ads or whatnot, to help defray the personal cost to me to keep this site going.

My long-term plan for content here fills me with excitement and some trepidation as developments in AI are opening avenues for content that were once only dreamt of. I do not want to give away my plans, but if I can pull off even half of it, I’ll be well pleased.

Finally, if enough visitors request that I review certain books, games, or miniatures, once they come to trust my thoughts on such things, then feel free to contact me through this site. Keep in mind, I view the content for this site through the imagi-nations lens, so requests will be fulfilled from that perspective.

We live in exciting times and there is much to do.
